Volunteers Surpass 7,000 mark

200 volunteers on Saturday, March 23 was the largest ever to help remove trash in our 10 year history! They were divided into six tracks to cover over a 1-mile stretch of Wilderness Island shoreline near the confluence of Robeson Creek with the Haw River Arm. Neighbors of Providence Church Rd. and Ryan Rd. off Hanks Chapel Rd. also organized their own cleanup on the west side of the Haw River Arm across from our target area. They stacked about 100 bags and 20 tires along a stretch from just south of where Robeson Creek enters the Haw to the big cove to the north of the peninsula defining entry of Stinking Creek..

We welcomed 20 volunteers from Dell Planet NC employee resource group (ERG) on March 15th. Planet is one of the largest ERGs at Dell, with more than 60 chapters and nearly 9,000 members globally. We’re pleased that Clean Jordan Lake was recognized as a good opportunity to help restore beauty and harmony to a vital natural resource within the Triangle area .

2018 Annual Spring Trash Cleanup A Great Success

About 80 volunteers showed up at the Visitor Assistance Center of the Army Corps of Engineers on Jordan Dam Rd. for our Annual Spring Trash Cleanup on Saturday, March 24th despite threatening weather. We served Rise biscuits courtesy of Van Murray, our new President (see photo of him) and Larry's Beans donated lots of hot coffee to start the day.

Kids learn about trash at Annual Fishing Fiesta

The second annual Fishing Fiesta sponsored by NC Wildlife Resources Commission and NC State Parks was a grand success on Sat. Kids visited stations set up at Jordan Lake's White Oak Recreation Area where various organizations talked about water safety, species of fish and birds, careers in nature, knot tying, casting, cooking fish, protecting our water and land, and much more.

Volunteers in Annual Spring Trash Cleanup restore 2 mi. of shoreline

The arrival of a beautiful morning on March 25th was a great relief to us!  We had to cancel our Fall Trash Cleanup because of Hurricane Matthew.  And the arrival of 150 energetic volunteers was just as beautiful! We thank especially our wonderful boaters who buzzed around the lake ferrying volunteers and hauling trash, recyclables and tires to the Corps of Engineers headquarters for drop off .
