View Real-time Updates of Trash Cleanup Events at Our Website

We created a Trash Cleanup Meter at the Clean Jordan Lake website to tally in real-time the work of the Adopt-A-Shoreline and Adopt-A-Feeder Stream groups.

The data sent by each adoption group are first entered into a spreadsheet that is linked to a "Scorecard" in the Google Data Studio APP. The Scorecard is embedded at our website. Counts in the Scorecard seen at the website are thus updated with each new cleanup.

You'll note that the number of propane canisters are included. A few of the adoption groups are assigned to areas beneath bridges where night fishermen use propane canisters to fuel lanterns. Unfortunately, they leave the empties behind!

We ask Adoption groups to put the canisters in a separate bag because they are considered hazardous waste. As you can see from the Trash Cleanup Meter, we're up to 828, a shocking number! Chatham County since 2019 requires us to pay $2.20 each for their special handling as hazardous waste.

Compare this Trash Cleanup Meter with that for ALL Trash Cleanups as shown here.

The Adoption programs are clearly essential to our success.
